Trojan
Horse's are all over the internet just waiting to sneak past your computer's
defenses. At one time or another your computer is likely to suffer the
consequences of a Trojan attack.
Beware of the
Greeks, even when they bear gifts is true today as it was thousands of years
ago. Of course it isn't just Greeks who let these vile programs loose on the
world but often they are disguised as something we want or would be interested
in.
The moment you
click on it, too late.
So what is a
Trojan Horse virus anyway? For a start they aren't really a computer virus.
Yes, they are nasty and need to be exterminated but they normally are not
capable of copying themselves and then moving to other computers.
They are just
nasty programs that can cause serious damage to your PC. They always disguise
themselves, hence the name, as something they are not. By this trick they
manage to get you to install them on your system, just a moment before you
realize you shouldn't have clicked on it.
We all can fall
foul of Trojans since it just takes a moments lack of judgment and a little
click of the mouse to cause so much trouble.
One favorite
method of infecting machines is to use file sharing programs. You think you are
downloading something you want and it really is a Trojan.
So how do you
get rid of a Trojan once they sneak into your computer?
It really
depends on the actual malicious bit of code that has infected your machine.
There are just so many different types that do different things that is
impossible to have a general method of removing them.
The only
solution for people who are not experienced in all the different types of
Trojans and viruses is to download a specialist program that will clean your PC
and remove all the dangerous software that has infected it.
Usually these PC
maintenance software programs are automatic and you just click the button and
they do their job. It is important to have a program that has accurate database
of all the know Trojans and viruses so that it can detect and remove an that it
finds on your machine.
One consolation
is that once you suffer from a Trojan Horse you are much more careful when
clicking on anything online.
