If you've
followed the first two parts of this guide:

Removal -- What is The Trojan Adclicker Malware Threat
Trojan Adclicker
Removal -- Part Two: A Step-by-Step Removal Guide
You should be
well on the way to be completely free of the Adclicker trojan malware threat.
On rare occasions, however, there may be a few additional steps that you'll
need to take to ensure that your computer is completely free from all malware
threats.
1. Check That
You Are Infection Free
The best way to
check that your computer is free from the adclicker trojan threat is to reboot
your computer in safe mode and rerun a scan using your malware removal tool.
Obviously, if
the results return further infections, then your PC is not free from malware
quite yet. Follow these additional steps to completely remove the adcliker
threat -- along with any other nasty malware infections that you may have
picked up on the way.
2. Disable the
System Restore Feature
Some malware
programs have the ability to restore themselves even after they have been
deleted by exploiting the Windows system restore facility. To temporarily
disable the system restore feature if you are using Windows Vista, follow these
steps:
Click Start,
right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
In the System
Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.
Click to select
the Turn off System Restore check box. Or, click to select the Turn off System
Restore on all drives check box.
Click OK.
When you receive
the following message, click Yes to confirm that you want to turn off System
Restore:
""You
have chosen to turn off System Restore. If you continue, all existing restore
points will be deleted, and you will not be able to track or undo changes to
your computer.
Do you want to
turn off System Restore?
After a few
moments, the System Properties dialog box closes.""
3. Ensure That
Your Anti-Malware Tool is Updated
You are only as
protected as your last update. If you are having problems removing a particular
threat, ensure that you have the latest version/database update relating to
your chosen anti-malware tool.
You will be able
to download the most recent update either through the tool's interface or from
their website.
4. Ensure That
Windows is Updated
Malware
developers make their money by exploiting security holes in both third party
programs and Windows itself. To ensure that you are running the most up to date
version of Windows, follow these steps:
Click Start,
click Control Panel, and then click Security.
Click Security
Center, and then make sure Automatic updating is turned on.
5. Rerun a Scan
in Safe Mode
After checking
these common troubleshooting fixes, reboot your PC in Safe mode and rerun a
scan as per the instructions in the second part of this article series.
Following these
steps will almost certainly completely remove the adclicker trojan threat from
your computer.
